ASI Student Government is recruiting for the 2025–26 Chair of the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB).
The UUAB’s mission is to represent students by maximizing their opportunities and improving experiences at the Julian A. McPhee University Union, Cal Poly Recreation Center, Cal Poly Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field by making policy recommendations for these ASI-managed facilities and working to maintain the integrity of the University Union student body fee.
Any currently enrolled Cal Poly student may nominate an eligible student interested in the Chair of UUAB position. The Chair of the UUAB serves as an officer of the ASI corporation and is responsible for the calling, planning, and facilitating of UUAB meetings; they also represent the UUAB on the Cal Poly Athletics Governing Board, ASI Business and Finance Committee, and ASI Board of Directors, among other entities.
In accordance with the ASI Bylaws (Section 7.4.3.), the Chair of the UUAB shall be available to fulfill the responsibilities of their office beginning Aug. 1, which includes meeting attendance responsibilities, in-office work requirements, being present for on- and off-campus retreats, and other affiliated obligations. As a corporate officer of ASI, this position is eligible to receive a scholarship that aims to assist student leaders with the cost of education. Nominations for the 2025–26 Chair of the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB) will be accepted during the UUAB meetings on Apr. 2 and Apr. 16, 2025.
Any currently enrolled Cal Poly student may submit the name of an eligible student for nomination during the UUAB meetings where nominations are accepted. Students being nominated are required to accept the nomination during a UUAB meeting on either Apr. 2 or 16. The Chair of the UUAB is elected by a majority vote of the UUAB student membership during the Apr. 16 meeting, following a presentation from each candidate.
