The Children’s Center follows the standards set by the California Department of Education and National Association for the Education of Young Children, and serves as a certified Outdoor Classroom Demonstration site, providing opportunities for others to observe the practice of fully utilizing the outdoor space as an extension of the classroom with rich and varied learning opportunities.
In 1990 and again in 1995, Cal Poly students voted in a student referendum to increase their ASI fee in support of the ASI Children’s Center. Today, the center is funded in part by these student fees, in addition to grants, and parent tuition.
