Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) Students

The Federal Work-Study Program (FWS) offers part-time jobs for matriculated students that are enrolled at least half-time. In order to be considered for FWS, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FWS award depends on the student’s financial need, the amount of other aid awarded, and the availability of FWS funds. Eligibility is determined by the Financial Aid Office. The FWS student’s schedule is set by ASI. Students may earn up to but not exceed their FWS award. Any work performed in excess of their FWS award will be paid through ASI’s normal payroll procedures.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Students

Students with DACA status are eligible for all student employment positions at ASI and are not required to disclose their status to ASI during any portion of the hiring or onboarding process. If hired for a position at ASI, students will be required to provide ASI Human Resources with original and unexpired documents that satisfy the I-9 requirements as set by the Department of Homeland Security. Visit the Department of Homeland Security website for a list of acceptable I-9 documentation.

If hired for a position at ASI, students will be required to provide ASI Human Resources with a valid social security number prior to working their first shift. Please note, there is no fee to apply for a social security number, however processing can take between two weeks to several months.

Conflict of Interest

It is a conflict of interest for ASI to employ members of ASI Student Government and require those individuals to have the responsibility of governing and making decisions regarding the organization by which they are employed. Because of this conflict, it is necessary to separate the roles by not allowing a student to simultaneously hold a position in Student Government and be employed by ASI.
