The Student Community Liaison Committee (SCLC) serves as a mechanism of communication among Cal Poly, Cuesta College, the City and County of San Luis Obispo, and community organizations. The mission of SCLC is to proactively engage in discussions to promote positive relations, mutual respect, and improved quality of life for all citizens of San Luis Obispo.
The SCLC is now recruiting at least one (1) and no more than five (5) voting community members-at-large selected from the following:
- A recognized City of San Luis Obispo Geographic Neighborhood Association/Group
- A City of San Luis Obispo community member with an expressed interest demonstrated impact, or in immediate proximity to either Cal Poly or Cuesta College.
- These members shall participate in the education of the community for strengthening student/community relations and the work and goals of SCLC in the SLO Community.
General Duties of the Community Members-at-Large:
- Attend monthly SCLC meetings. Meetings are held monthly at a set and recurring time, except for December, June, and July, unless otherwise noted in the annual calendar or at the discretion of the chair.
- Provide an oral monthly report on community happenings.
- Serve as a representative on community-related issues.
- Encourage dialogue between community members, Cuesta College, and Cal Poly.
- Bring forth ideas and projects aimed at enhancing community/student relations.
- Members shall participate in the education of the community to strengthen student/community relations and the work and goals of SCLC in the SLO community.
Statement of Interest Application Procedures:
- The application (Statement of Interest) will be available for a minimum of three weeks.
- Individuals seeking appointment to the SCLC will be required to submit a Statement of Interest application and (optional) cover letter by the due date stated. Applications will be accepted via email (asistudentgovernment@calpoly.edu) or can be delivered in person to the ASI Student Government Office, located at 1 Grand Ave. Bldg. 65, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407.
- SCLC may extend the application period at their discretion by a majority vote of the voting membership.
