14th Annual Mustang Mile

San Luis Obispo, Calif. 04/20/2026 — ASI Events presents the 14th Annual Mustang Mile! This 5K of fun will be held on Wednesday, May 6 from 6:30–8 p.m. with the starting line on the Health Center Lawn (near Building 27). The course will be routed through the Cal Poly campus. ASI Events is hosting this event in collaboration with Overdose Prevention, PULSE, Friday Night Live, and Mustangs for Recovery. 

This annual Mustang Mile honors the memory of Carson Starkey, a Cal Poly student who lost his life to alcohol poisoning in 2008 after a fraternity hazing incident. Mustang Mile hopes to provide health and wellness resources that educate students on the signs of alcohol poisoning and the dangers of binge drinking. 

Registration is free and open to all Cal Poly Students. Registration is required and is open from Monday, April 20, at noon until Friday, May 1, at 5 p.m. through the Cal Poly Ticket Office. A waiver will be routed upon registration and must be signed by all participants prior to Tuesday, May 5 at 5 p.m. to receive a bib. On the day of the event, all participants must check in at the Cal Poly Recreation Center Lobby (Building 43, Room 111).  

Free Woodstock’s Pizza, sweets, t-shirts, hats and musical entertainment will be available for attendees to enjoy. Costumes are encouraged!
