San Luis Obispo, Calif. 4/14/2026 — ASI Student Government is partnering with Safer at Campus Health & Wellbeing to host the annual It’s On Us campaign as part of Sexual Assault Action Month programming throughout April. It’s On Us is a nationwide nonprofit initiative dedicated to preventing sexual assault on college campuses, and Cal Poly has participated in the campaign since 2014. The week-long initiative will take place April 27–30, 2026 and is designed to raise awareness, build community, encourage bystander intervention, and support survivor wellness and advocacy. Throughout the week, students and community members will have opportunities to engage in events featuring free food, giveaways, crafting activities, and the distribution of resources provided by Safer.

The week will begin with “Sip & Support” on April 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the University Union Plaza. Attendees can enjoy free Scout Coffee and pastries while learning more about the week’s events and available campus resources, as well as participate in writing supportive notes to survivors. On April 28 from 2:30 to 5 p.m., ASI and Safer will host the “Step Up to the Plate” Baseball Tailgate at Baggett Stadium. The tailgate will include free food vouchers, giveaways, and lawn games, and the theme encourages bystander intervention by inviting community members to “step up to the plate” and take action in preventing sexual violence. On April 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., “Denim Day” on Dexter will take place on Dexter Lawn. “Denim Day “is a global day of action focused on supporting survivors and combating victim blaming. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about campus resources, receive a denim hat, and create block-printed denim tote bags. The week will conclude with “Take Back the Night” on April 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the University Union Plaza. This event will focus on reclaiming the night through community resources and a solidarity march honoring survivors and those affected by sexual violence.

The Cal Poly community is encouraged to attend events throughout the week to learn more about prevention efforts, support survivors, and help foster a safer and more supportive campus environment.
