The ASI Craft Center is a creative space for both beginners and experienced crafters to bring their projects to life. We offer classes, tools, and studio space to inspire your passion. This quarter, we’re offering 6-week courses for beginners to master a new craft through expert instruction, along with single-day workshops for a focused crafting experience. Experienced crafters can also register for open studio passes for access to studio space and materials without instruction. Classes will begin week three of the quarter on Monday, April 13.

Workshops
- Cyanotype: Explore a historic photographic printing process that utilizes the sun’s UV light to print blue-toned images on paper.
- Glass Fusing: Students will explore the art of glass fusing, learning the basics of cutting, layering, and fusing glass to craft their own personalized pieces.
- Leatherworking: This hands-on workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of leather crafting, from tooling and shaping to stamping and carving.
- Jewelry Making: Jewelry Making will provide instructions and materials to walk you through making an array of different jewelry pieces.
- Sewing: Learn the basics of using a sewing machine, how to read patterns, and walk away with your own handmade masterpieces!
- Stamp Making: Create custom block patterns and walk away with printed art of your own designs in just one day!
Multi-week Courses
- Ceramics—Handbuilding: Learn handbuilding techniques to create pottery without a wheel, such as pots, tiles, and wall hangings.
- Ceramics—Wheel Throwing: Learn clay techniques and create functional pottery, with open studio access throughout the course.
- Jewelry Making: Create your own unique necklace, bracelet, or earrings with guidance from an instructor in this one-of-a-kind jewelry experience.
- Leatherworking: Learn leather crafting skills like tooling and carving to create coasters, keychains, belts, and more.
- Painting: Beginners and seasoned painters alike can make their own masterpiece with the Watercolor or Acrylic Painting course.
- Sewing: Learn the basics of using a sewing machine, altering and fixing damaged clothing, how to read clothing patterns, and walk away with your own handmade masterpieces!
- Stained Glass: Create a stained-glass panel, learning safety and techniques from experienced instructors.
- Stamp Making: Master linocutting and stamp design, creating custom prints on paper or fabric.
- Surfboard Shaping: Learn to shape a custom surfboard, including techniques for shaping rails, nose, tail, and finishing.
Open Studio Passes
- Ceramics: Access the ceramics studio to create pottery at your own pace, with instructor office hours available.
- Sewing: Try our fiber arts studio! Complete with sewing machines, scrap fabric, and all sewing tools and supplies needed to take on your own project.
- Stained Glass: Gain access to the stained-glass studio to create your projects, with materials provided and additional purchases available.
- Surfboard Shaping: Use studio tools and space to shape surfboards independently, with instructor support.
