Meet Your Neighbors Returns to Build Stronger Community Connections

Living off campus is an exciting part of the college experience, and getting to know the people who live around you can help create a more welcoming and respectful neighborhood. This fall, the Student Community Liaison Committee in collaboration with ASI Student Government, Associated Students of Cuesta College (ASCC), and the City of San Luis Obispo is bringing back the Meet Your Neighbors competition for Cal Poly and Cuesta College students living off campus. The competition is an opportunity to build positive relationships, improve communication, and help create stronger neighborhoods throughout San Luis Obispo. 

Three winning submissions will receive prizes for both the student(s) and their community member neighbor, with more than $1,000 in prizes available. Keep reading to learn more details about prizes.

How to Participate: 

1. Find a non-student neighbor living in your neighborhood 
   • Community Members are also welcome to reach out to their student neighbors to participate!  
2. At an appropriate time, introduce yourself and your roommates  
   • This is a great way to exchange contact information, and clarify any necessary boundaries with your neighbors (noise level, parties, communication expectations, parking, etc.) 
3. Take a fun photo or video with your new neighbors and submit to the competition’s submission page 
   • The submission link can be found below 
4. Winners will be announced at the start of Week 5! 
   • $1000+ in prizes for both students and community members 
   • Prizes include a Yeti Cooler, JBL Speaker, Morro Bay Kayaking Trip, and other local business prize packs!
