Are you interested in running for the 2025–26 ASI President or ASI Board of Directors but did not submit a candidate packet before the filing deadline?
If so, now is the time to run as a write-in candidate for the 2025–26 ASI Elections!
As the collective voice of Cal Poly students, Student Government leaders advocate for change, provide direction on ASI’s corporate responsibilities, and are a resource for students creating positive contributions both on- and off-campus. If elected, leaders will have the opportunity to create a better Cal Poly for current and future generations of students.
The ASI President represents the general student body and acts as the official representative of ASI to Cal Poly administration and the general public. The time commitment for the ASI President is in excess of 40 hours per week and starts on the last day of spring quarter. The ASI President is expected to be in San Luis Obispo during the entire summer quarter to fulfill the responsibilities of meeting attendance, in-office work, retreats, and other affiliated job functions.
The ASI Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from each academic college that serve as the official voice of students and act as members of ASI’s corporate governing board. Regular board meetings convene every other Wednesday at 5 p.m. Additionally, every Monday at 5 p.m., the board engages in working meetings as a tool to facilitate discussions regarding ASI business, events, and campus issues. The time commitment for board representatives is in excess of 10 hours per week.
Any student who wishes to run for candidacy and did not file or submit a candidate packet prior to the filing deadline can still run by filing as a write-in candidate. A write-in candidate is a student who takes action to run in the election and did not file a candidate packet within the candidacy deadline. Write-in candidates will not have their name on the ballot and will have to be written in on election day.
Write-in candidates can complete the candidate filing forms for ASI President or the ASI Board of Directors on the ASI Recruitment and Elections website; they must submit their intent to run in the upcoming election up to 24 hours after the polls close (by Friday, April 25 at 8 a.m.). Any write-in candidate packets received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Anyone interested in running as a write-in candidate should campaign and let students know to write in their name on the ballot when voting. Cal Poly students will have the opportunity to vote during Election Day on Tuesday, April 22 at 8 a.m. through Thursday, April 24 at 8 a.m. on the ASI website and Cal Poly Portal.
