The Future Is Now. Are You Ready to Lead It?

If you are a Cal Poly student looking to take on a leadership role and help guide the future of Cal Poly, now is your moment. The candidate filing period for the 2026–27 ASI President and ASI Board of Directors is officially open, marking the start of a new election cycle and new possibilities for our campus community. Filing opens Monday, Feb. 2, at 8 a.m. and closes Monday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m.

ASI Student Government serves as the collective voice of Cal Poly students. Student leaders advocate for change, guide ASI’s corporate responsibilities, and support initiatives that enhance the student experience both on- and off-campus. This year’s election emphasizes how the choices we make today will directly shape the Cal Poly where we learn, live, and lead in the years ahead.

To file for ASI President or the Board of Directors, students must complete a Candidate Packet. The Candidate Packet, including required electronic and PDF forms, can be found on the ASI Recruitment and Elections webpage. Additional opportunities to learn more, including campaign deadlines, required meetings, and engagement events, are listed on the Recruitment and Elections Timeline.

The ASI President represents the general student body and serves as ASI’s official representative to Cal Poly administration and the broader community. The time commitment exceeds 40 hours per week and begins on the first day of summer term. The president is expected to remain in San Luis Obispo for the entire summer term to fulfill meeting attendance, office responsibilities, retreats, and other affiliated duties.

The ASI Board of Directors is composed of representatives from each academic college who serve as the official student voice and act as members of ASI’s corporate governing board. The board meets every other Wednesday at 5 p.m., with workshops held on Mondays at 5 p.m. The time commitment for board representatives exceeds 10 hours per week.

The annual ASI Elections are held each spring to determine the student leadership for the following year. The Cal Poly student body will encouraged to vote for the candidates for ASI president and ASI Board of Directions during the election starting Tuesday, April 21 at 8 a.m. through Thursday, April 23 at 8 a.m.

Visit the ASI Recruitment and Elections webpage for more information on filing, the elections process, and to access the Candidate Packets.
