|

Have you ever thought about joining  ASI Student Government? This is your chance! The candidate filing period for the 2025–26 ASI President and ASI Board of Directors will be open Monday, Feb. 3, at 8 a.m. through Monday, Feb. 24, at 4 p.m.

As the collective voice of Cal Poly students, Student Government leaders advocate for change, provide direction on ASI’s corporate responsibilities, and are a resource for students creating positive contributions both on- and off-campus. If elected, leaders will have the opportunity to create a better Cal Poly for current and future generations of students.

To file for ASI President or the Board of Directors, students must complete a Candidate Packet. The candidate packet, including required electronic and pdf forms, is found on the ASI Recruitment and Elections webpage.

ASI Student Government will host in-person informational sessions, where students can learn more about the Student Government program and the elections process. Sessions will include a presentation, Q & A period, and time to chat with current Student Government members. Sessions will be held on Monday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Recreation Center Training Room (Building 43, Room 109). Attendance at these sessions is encouraged, but not mandatory.

Those interested in filing and learning more about the ASI Board of Directors may also attend the Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 4:30 p.m. in the University Union (Building 65, Room 220). All dates and locations can also be found on the 2025-26 ASI Election Timeline. Attendance at the Open House is optional, but it is a great opportunity to ask questions and connect with current ASI Board of Directors members.

The ASI President represents the general student body and acts as the official representative of ASI to Cal Poly administration and the general public. The time commitment for the ASI President is in excess of 40 hours per week and starts on the last day of spring quarter. The ASI President is expected to be in San Luis Obispo during the entire summer quarter to fulfill the responsibilities of meeting attendance, in-office work, retreats, and other affiliated job functions.

The ASI Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from each academic college that serve as the official voice of students and act as members of ASI’s corporate governing board. Regular board meetings convene every other Wednesday at 5 p.m. Additionally, every Monday at 5 p.m., the board engages in working meetings as a tool to facilitate discussions regarding ASI business, events, and campus issues. The time commitment for board representatives is in excess of 10 hours per week.
