Cal Poly ASI and Cal Poly Maritime Academy Students Unite Under a New Shared Governance Model
|
The ASI Board of Directors has officially approved a Shared Governance Model that brings Cal Poly Solano (formerly Cal Maritime) into the ASI organization, marking a major milestone in uniting student leadership across both campuses. At the heart of this integration is the creation of the ASI Maritime Academy Council (AMAC), a new student body representing Cal Poly Solano students within ASI. The Council will provide Solano students with leadership opportunities, a direct voice in ASI decisions, and a strong connection to student life at both campuses.
“With Solano now part of our Cal Poly community, that voice just got bigger and stronger,” said Marc Cabeliza, ASI President. “We want to make sure every student, no matter which campus they call home, has the support, resources, and opportunities they need to truly thrive.”
“We’re proud to be a part of this integration and excited about the endless possibilities that come with joining the Cal Poly family,” added Carlos Arencibia, Associated Students of Cal Maritime Academy (ASCMA) President. “Together, we’re shaping a unified student experience built on collaboration, inclusion, and a shared commitment to leading this next chapter.”
This new model ensures that all Cal Poly students are represented equitably within ASI, with consistent opportunities for involvement, leadership, and advocacy.
