Buck the Stigma 2025

|

Buck the Stigma returns for its 10th anniversary! Join ASI Student Government and PULSE Oct. 20–24 for a week of events featuring mental wellbeing practices with the goal of breaking stigmas around mental health. These events will provide resources, activities, and discussions to support reflection, wellness, and reconnection.

The events of this year’s Buck the Stigma week will conclude with the 27th Annual Mark S. Reuling Volleyball Tournament presented by ASI Intramural Sports. Engage in a week full of thoughtful content and connection!

  • Oct. 20: Stewarding Health Practices event (11 a.m.–2 p.m.), located in the University Union Plaza. Build your own terrarium and design a custom journal! This event will focus on implementing mental health practices and providing resources to maintain and steward your mental health.
  • Oct. 21: Buck the Stigma Resource Day (11 a.m.–2 p.m.), located along Mustang Way. Come learn about various on and off campus mental health and wellbeing resources. Hear about the 10 years of history of this campaign and what services are available to you. There will be a “make your own” tea station available as you interact with all the organizations at the resource fair.
  • Oct. 21: Movie Night with University Housing (7–10 p.m.), located at yakʔitʸutʸu lawn next to Building 172C. Legally Blonde will be shown in partnership with PULSE and the Inter Housing Council.
  • Oct 22: Succulent Planting Workshop (10 a.m.–noon), located at the University Union Plaza. Take a break from your studies and recharge with succulent planting. Take home your own succulent in a terracotta pot! At this event, you can expect to receive resources on mental health services on campus.
  • Oct. 23: Enjoy a free yoga class with PULSE (2:15–3:30 p.m.), located at the Cal Poly Recreation Center Studio 2 (Building 43, Room 213).
  • Oct. 24: 27th Annual Mark S. Reuling Volleyball Tournament (11 a.m.– 4 p.m.), all events will be located at the Cal Poly Recreation Center (Building 43). The non-student tournament will be 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in the Main Gym and the student tournament 1–4 p.m. will be held at the Sand Volleyball Courts. The Annual Mark S. Reuling Volleyball Tournament is in memory of Cal Poly alumni, Mark Reuling. This tournament aims to raise funds for the Reuling Memorial Endowment and to promote education and prevention programs regarding bipolar disorder and depression for the Cal Poly community.
