The 3rd Annual Hobby Horse Competition Announced!

San Luis Obispo, Calif. 02/05/2026– ASI Events, and ASI Intramural Sports are collaborating to host the 3rd Annual Hobby Horse Competition on Friday, Feb. 27 from 7–10 p.m. at the Cal Poly Recreation Center Main Gym (Building 43). Attendees will have the chance to observe, or compete, in hobby horse events. Free offerings include a slider bar from Ribline BBQ, desserts from SeaBreeze Cupcakes & Sweets, a live DJ, and T-shirts and trucker hats while supplies last. 

Competitor Hobby Horse events include Group Relay, Group Dance, Individual Race, and Individual Dance. Group Relay events will be comprised of groups of 4 and judged based on speed and accuracy. Group Dance will include groups of a maximum of 8 people.  

Competitors can register through Fusion Play on Monday, Feb. 9, at noon. For group events, participants must register as a full team. There is no registration required for spectators.  

Competition finalists can win the opportunity to attend and perform at the 2026 Poly Royal Rodeo in April, special hobby horse trophies, and gifts from the Cal Poly Bookstore.

This event is hosted by ASI and is made possible because of student fees collected by the university as a part of tuition, which ASI has the privilege of managing.
