Spring Music Fest: Featuring Sun Room

|

San Luis Obispo, Calif. 05/20/2026 — ASI Events is proud to announce Spring Music Fest, featuring Sun Room! The concert is free for all students and will be held on Tuesday, May 26, in the University Union Plaza (near Building 65). Student bands will perform starting at 7 p.m., with headliner, Sun Room, taking the stage at approximately 9 p.m.

Born and raised in San Diego’s surf-rock scene, Sun Room went from getting their house shows shut down for playing too loudly to selling out venues across a dozen countries.

Formed in 2021, the band gained viral attention after two songs featured on Netflix’s Outer Banks. Expanding beyond their hometown, they sold out U.S. shows, supported Louis Tomlinson across the Americas, toured Europe with Inhaler, and headlined their first North American tour in fall 2022, selling over 15,000 tickets.

In spring 2023, Sun Room toured North America with Inhaler before returning to SoCal to finish At Least I Tried, a 4-track EP produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR. The project earned widespread acclaim, including playlist features, praise from Iggy Pop on BBC, and DIY Mag calling them “a band so unashamedly indebted to the garage rock’n’roll of decades past.” The EP coincided with their second North American headline tour across 30+ cities, followed by a headline and festival run in Australia in early 2024. Later that year, they released Can’t Explain and supported Dayglow on a North American tour.

In summer 2025, Sun Room released their latest EP, Ritual of Chaos, before supporting Flipturn and embarking on a 20+ date North American headline tour. The project showcases the band’s love of bluesrock, shoegaze and post-punk garage influences absorbed from playing worldwide. Their live show channels the energy of their early San Diego house shows — bigger, louder, and more electrifying with every performance.

With over 500k followers across social media and a steadily growing global audience, Sun Room continues to push their sound, explore new cities, and draw inspiration from their experiences. Their highly anticipated debut album is set for release in early 2026.

This event is for Cal Poly students only, and no registration is required to attend. In addition to the music, there will be free food, refreshments, and SWAG for attendees to enjoy.
