San Luis Obispo, Calif. 1/13/2025 — ASI Student Government, in partnership with Meathead Movers, is hosting the #FillThoseTrucks donation drive from Tuesday, Jan. 14 to Friday, Jan. 17, calling on the Cal Poly and greater-campus community to donate essential supplies for disaster kits to be delivered to Operation USA, an international disaster relief organization. These kits will be distributed to individuals affected by the wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Drop-off locations will be available across Cal Poly’s campus in ASI-managed facilities, accepting essential items including body wash, bar soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste (regular size), hand towel, flushable wipes, feminine hygiene products, diapers, baby wipes, flashlights, batteries, and bottled water. All items must be unopened with an expiration date of 12+ months past today.
The main drop-off point will be the Meathead Movers truck, located at the Multi-Activity Center (MAC) (Building 43, Room 170), from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This location at the corner of Hathway Ave. and Longview Lane, is encouraged for larger donations and is accessible for drive-up drop-offs.
Additional drop-off locations include the Orfalea Family and ASI Children’s Center (Building 133) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Cal Poly Recreation Center, Membership Services Front Desk (Building 43) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the University Union, ASI Student Government Office (Building 65, Room 202) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Mustang Business Park (4800 Morabito Place, San Luis Obispo, 93401) from 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
“As Student Government represents over 22,000 students, and with hundreds of those students and families affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California, this drive serves as a crucial effort to provide immediate relief and support to our student community and those in need,” said Chair of the University Union Advisory Board, Marc Cabeliza.
