ASI Student Government is partnering with Safer at Campus Health & Wellbeing to host the annual It’s On Us campaign as part of Sexual Assault Action Month programming throughout April. It’s On Us is a nationwide nonprofit initiative dedicated to preventing sexual assault on college campuses, and Cal Poly has proudly participated in the campaign since 2014.
Throughout the week of April 27–30, students and community members are invited to participate in events designed to raise awareness, build community, encourage bystander intervention, and support survivor wellness and advocacy. Events will include free food, giveaways, crafting activities, and resource sharing with Safer.
Sip & Support
April 27 | 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | University Union Plaza
Kick off the week with free Scout Coffee and pastries while learning about upcoming events and available campus resources. Participants can also write supportive notes to survivors as part of a collective message of care and solidarity.
“Step Up to the Plate” Baseball Tailgate
April 28 | 2:30–5 p.m. | Baggett Stadium
Join ASI and Safer for a baseball tailgate featuring free food vouchers, giveaways, and lawn games. The event theme encourages bystander intervention by inviting community members to “step up to the plate” and take action in preventing sexual violence.
Denim Day on Dexter
April 29 | 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. | Dexter Lawn
Denim Day is a global day of action focused on supporting survivors and challenging harmful myths and victim blaming. Stop by Dexter Lawn to learn more about campus resources, pick up a denim hat, and create your own block-printed denim tote bag.
Take Back the Night
April 30 | 6:30–8:30 p.m. | University Union Plaza
The week concludes with Take Back the Night, an event centered on reclaiming the night through community, performances, resources, and a solidarity march in honor of survivors and those impacted by sexual violence. This year marks San Luis Obispo’s 25th march as part of this nationally recognized day of action. Learn more about this nationally-recognized day of action at the Safer website.
