ASI Student Government is excited to announce the launch of the Student Legal Resource section on the ASI website. This new resource provides students with essential information on legal topics that can impact student life, including housing rights, employment rights, campus policies, academic accommodations, substance use, law enforcement, parking and traffic violations, small claims court, and more.
The creation of this resource was driven by a desire to make legal information more accessible and transparent for students. The project was spearheaded by Giulia Spano, the Vice Chair of the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB), who recognized the need for a centralized and student-friendly platform for legal guidance.
“I have had so much fun creating this project with the help of amazing staff and legal counsel, ensuring that college students have free access to legal resources about issues they might run into,” Spano shares. “I noticed that it was hard to reach a wide array of students to inform them about legal processes and their rights. As a political science major, I am exposed to the legal world on a daily basis, but that is not the case for all students—and that needed to change. I firmly believe that it is a university responsibility to give all their students easy access to legal resources, and thus the legal resource web page was born!”
In addition to legal resources, the Student Legal Resource page also features a feedback form where students can suggest additional topics or resources they would like to see.
Explore the page today under the “Discover ASI” tab and gain access to important legal information that will empower you as you navigate your rights as a student!
