Eco Reps is a student volunteer group promoting sustainability and empowering students to lead greener lives. They are run by Green Campus and hope to “Grow Greener Minds.”

Ethical Eating Club

Passionate about health, the environment, and animals, students set goals to educate and motivate others on how to eat sustainably and humanely.

Garden Club

Garden Club is on campus at Student Experimental Farm (SEF). They promote the benefits of healthy, local, and sustainable food and teach students how to practice sustainable, regenerative, and holistic farming. Garden Club also hosts bi-weekly, socially distanced farm stands where they sell their produce along with chicken eggs, tinctures, kombucha, lotions, soaps, candles, baked goods, and teas.

Green Campus Team

Green Campus is a group of student interns who work under the Facilities Management and Development department. They aim to implement conservation projects, expand educational outreach and marketing, infuse sustainability into curriculum, and empower student leaders and clubs to be more impactful. Learn more.

GrowCrew is dedicated to learning how to design, build, and operate modern growing systems under the guidance of the Bioresource and Agricultural Engineering (BRAE) department. They currently operate a climate control room, aeroponics units, and a hydroponic aquaponic system.

SunriseSLO is a hub of the larger Sunrise Movement. SunriseSLO aims to bring together young people and build a movement for a Green New Deal, a livable future, and to bring an end to climate change.

Surfrider

Cal Poly Surfrider is committed to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, beaches, waves, and coastlines. Some of Surfrider’s efforts include organizing beach cleanups with other Cal Poly clubs or local organizations, educating younger generations on plastic pollution, and helping certify local restaurants to be more ocean friendly.

This club informs students of the dangers of fast fashion and how to adopt more sustainable practices through shopping used, supporting sustainable brands and recycling clothing. Their three main goals are education, artistry, and community.

The Real Food Collaborative

The Real Food Collaborative is a student group focused on advocating for, and creating community around, real, local, sustainable, ethical, equitably sourced food for all. During non-Covid times they host community potlucks and volunteer days on the Cal Poly Organic Farm. They also run a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) produce subscription box with produce grown on Cal Poly’s campus.

Zero Waste Ambassadors are a group of student volunteers who are working to educate the campus community about sustainable waste disposal. They are currently working on a campus Zero Waste Plan to improve waste diversion rates on campus.
