Ron begun training in Shorin-Ryu Matsubayashi-Ryu karate when he started at Cal Poly in 1982 and has trained continuously since. He was an assistant instructor at Cal Poly from 1985–1988 before moving to the Bay Area and becoming chief instructor at the Stanford University dojo for 20 years. Upon moving back to San Luis Obispo in 2007, he resumed training at Cal Poly and is one of the head instructors for the Shorin-Ryu karate class offered at the Cal Poly Recreation Center. The class’s training results in far more than physical fitness — one learns self-confidence, mental focus, perseverance, humility, and sets the stage for success in all of life’s endeavors.
“Train the mind and the body will follow.”
