Kaaren has been a fitness instructor for over 10 years. She started teaching at the Cal Poly Recreation Center in 2015. She first taught at The Studio — Pilates and Functional Training, in Merced, CA. She is certified in cycling through Mad Dog Athletics and Schwinn. She is also certified in TRX, Small-Group Training and has held her National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Training Certificate since 2008. She teaches at the San Luis Obispo Country Club as well. Her passion for fitness began when she was a young child. Kaaren was a competitive swimmer through high school and trained in the offseason. Throughout her adult life, she has participated in a variety of fitness classes and has been a member at several gyms/studios. Being a fitness instructor allows her to share her enthusiasm for fitness with others and encourage those of all ages to stay active and healthy. When not exercising, Kaaren volunteers at the Manse on Marsh and at Mission College Prep where two of her three children go to school. She enjoys hiking, playing tennis, reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband, John.
“Fitness and health keep the body and the mind active, for this reason it is my passion.”
