The Cal Poly Recreation Center consists of over 20,000 square feet of exercise space with a comprehensive mix of cardio and strength equipment to accommodate a wide-range of participants' needs.
Each of the three specific exercise areas features inclusive environments that include free weights, circuit training machines, cardio equipment, and warm-up/cool-down areas.
The Recreation Center consists of multiple venues for a variety of court sport-specific activities.
The primary informal/open gymnasium, located across from the main entrance, consists of two full-court basketball or three volleyball court configurations.
This large two-court gym, located on the west side of the first floor, consists of two full-court basketball courts or three volleyball courts. It can also be converted to a main spectator single court for basketball or volleyball. This is the primary gym for Intramural Sports and Kinesiology.
Located on the north-west side of the second floor, this single court is configured for basketball or volleyball but can also be used for badminton, dodgeball, and futsal (soccer).
Located on the south-west side of the second floor, this single court is configured for basketball or volleyball but can also be used for dodgeball, and futsal (soccer).
The 3-lane indoor track is located on the second floor and loops around the Rec Gymnasium courts and exercise areas for warm-up/cool-down and circuit training. The track measures 1/8 of a mile per lap, and the inner lanes are for faster runners/joggers.
The Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms provide private showers for Rec Center participants and small and large lockers for personal item storage. In addition to this, swimsuit dryers and hair dryers are available for use.
The Martial Arts Room provides a matted space for specialized fitness classes such as Shori Ryu Karate and TRX. This space is also utilized as a practice space for the Cal Poly Wrestling team.
The MAC is available for badminton, dodgeball, fitness classes and special events. The MAC can be configured for three badminton courts or three dodgeball courts.
The event format consists of a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system and can be configured with a stage, conference tables, or as a general large meeting auditorium. The event seating capacity in the MAC ranges between 600 and 800 people.
Six glass-walled racquetball courts, with one having the capability to be converted to a squash court, are located on the first floor across from the Lower Exercise Area.
Courts 1 through 5 can be converted to Wallyball. All racquetball court use requires a reservation through the Rec Center Pro Shop. Protective eyewear is strongly recommended. Please see schedule for availability.
Three fitness/activity studios are located on the second floor adjacent to the upper exercise area:
The Recreation Center has a 20 lap lane Olympic-sized pool ranging from 4' to 7'6" in depth and a zero depth entry leisure pool ranging from 3'6" to 4'6" in depth.
Accessible ramp and transfer bench, along with an accessibility ramp and transfer bench are available for both pools.
Three sand volleyball courts are located adjacent to the Leisure Pool. Availability of use is based on a dusk-to-dawn timeline and are first come, first served. Outdoor volleyballs can be checked-out from the Pro Shop.
The Poly Escapes outdoor climbing park at the Recreation Center opened spring 2012. Come get a work out and enjoy the outdoors by rope climbing on the 42' climbing wall or free climbing on the 13' bouldering rock.
All skill levels are welcome whether you're a new climber or a seasoned climbing machine you can push your fitness level to new heights and meet new friends. Students and non-student Recreation Center members may climb for no additional cost.

In addition to the fields, the Cal Poly Sports Complex is also home to the Cal Poly NCAA Baseball and Softball teams.
