Come explore one of SLO’s finest local treasures! We’ll paddle out to the Port San Luis Lighthouse, check out the piers, and unwind on the beach. This is a Cal Poly classic—and a great option if you don’t have your own way to haul a kayak to the coast. Whether you’re a seasoned yakker or a total beginner, you won’t want to miss this trip!

Details
Participants will meet at the Recreation Center Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. to head out to Avila Beach (transportation provided by ASI). Activities for the day include a sea kayaking technique and safety lesson and kayaking out to the Avila lighthouse. Enjoy a provided lunch on the warm Avila sands and return to campus after a day of exploring Avila via kayak! Students can expect to be back on campus by 5:00 p.m.
