Shelby has been teaching at the Cal Poly Recreation Center since 2015. An alumna of Cal Poly, she has her bachelor’s and master’s in mathematics and a minor in dance. You might do a double take when you see her, because she may have taught you calculus in her role as a tenure-track instructor at Cuesta College. Even though she spends most of her time teaching math, her favorite classes to teach are at the Recreation Center. Shelby loves how good it feels to channel and vent emotions in a productive way with a class like Body Combat. Outside of the classroom, Shelby loves racing in Spartan Races, road racing, and jamming out to some sick baby beats while dancing with her one-year old daughter. She started her fitness journey after leg reattachment surgery following a bad car accident. One of her favorite parts of teaching is helping participants start their fitness journeys. No matter how new to fitness a member is, Shelby loves coaching them to the next level.
“You are only as strong as the limits you set for yourself. Come to Body Combat and see how good it feels to push yourself.”
