She/Her/Hers

Kat has been teaching Breakaway at the Cal Poly Recreation Center since 2016. She graduated from Cal Poly with her degree in animal science and is now a grad student finishing up her thesis in the Biological Sciences Department. As a part-time instructor teaching introductory biology labs at Cal Poly, she has quickly developed a passion for mentoring and inspiring students. One of her favorite rewards as a Breakaway instructor is watching participants reach their fitness goals through the power of motivation and inspiration. After she graduates from Cal Poly with her master’s, she plans to get her Ph.D. working with reptiles. Off-campus, she enjoys hiking with her dogs, camping, or just hanging out at home with her four cats, two dogs, bearded dragon, two Italian wall lizards, five snakes, and a tarantula named Maria.

“Life is a journey. And no one said this journey would be easy. There will be ups and there will be downs. It is conquering those downs and building ourselves up that make us that much stronger in the end!”
