Gerardo recently graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in environmental engineering and has been teaching yoga at the Cal Poly Recreation Center since fall 2017. His personal yoga journey started on-campus a few years ago as a means to cope with stress. As his practice naturally evolved, excitement grew to share the benefits of yoga. This led him on the journey of a lifetime as he traveled to the footsteps of the Himalayan mountains in Dharamsala, India to complete his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT). Since then, he’s been sharing various styles of yogic practices and feels honored to give back to the Cal Poly community. Gerardo’s here to remind you that there’s no pre-requisite necessary to start practicing yoga. All that’s needed is an open mind and a willingness to try something new. His mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and uplifting environment that facilitates space for creative expression and inner transformation to unfold. Outside of the studio, Gerardo is an ocean-loving cold therapy enthusiast who loves immersing himself in nature, enjoying delicious plant-based meals, and creating meaningful relationships within his community.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Come take that first step, you never know where it may lead you.”
