ASI Student Government is recruiting for the 2022-2023 Chair of the University Union Advisory Board (UUAB).
The UUAB’s mission is to represent students by maximizing their opportunities and improving experiences at the Julian A. McPhee University Union, Cal Poly Recreation Center, Cal Poly Sports Complex, and Doerr Family Field.
Any currently enrolled Cal Poly student may nominate an eligible student interested in the Chair position. The Chair of the UUAB serves as an officer of the ASI corporation and is responsible for the calling, planning, and facilitating of UUAB meetings; they also represent the UUAB on the Cal Poly Athletics Governing Board, ASI Business and Finance Committee, ASI Board of Directors, among other entities.
In accordance with the ASI Bylaws (Section 7.4.3.), the Chair of the UUAB shall be available to fulfill the responsibilities of their office beginning August 1 — and that includes meeting attendance responsibilities, in-office work requirements, being present for on- and off-campus retreats, and other affiliated obligations. As a corporate officer of ASI, this position is eligible to receive a scholarship that aims to assist student leaders with the cost of education. Nominations can be submitted now through April 19 via email to the current Chair of the UUAB at asichairofuuab@calpoly.edu. Students being nominated are required to accept the nomination during a UUAB Meeting on either April 5 or 19.
UUAB meetings will be held in-person during spring quarter and located inside the University Union’s room 219. The UUAB Chair is elected by a majority vote of the UUAB student membership and will take place during the April 19 meeting. Meeting details can be found on the ASI website.
