Calling creatives of all kinds! The 2023 Rose Parade Concept Contest is open.
For more than 70 years, the Cal Poly Universities Rose Float has cruised down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day as the only student-built float—and now is your chance to play a part in that journey!
This year’s concept is “Turning the Corner.”
“The 2023 theme celebrates turning a corner,” said Amy Wainscott, President and Chairman of the Board for the 2023 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. “Whether that corner is actual or figurative like the unlimited potential that each new year brings—we all enjoy the opportunity of a fresh start,” explained Wainscott.
The contest is open to all. The winner will receive $500 or two Rose Bowl tickets. The deadline for contest submissions is Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m.
Entries may be in color or black and white. Submission may be a maximum size of 11 inches by 17 inches, and the poster should illustrate or describe an idea rather than depict a finished design. Animation ideas are welcome. There is no limit on the number of entries an individual can submit.
Submission should be sent to CalPolyRoseFloat1949@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and email.
Students on the Rose Float leadership team from both Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo will review the submissions and vote on the winning concept, which will provide the basis for the 2023 final design.
