Universitywide Committees


What are Universitywide Committees?
Cal Poly students have the unique opportunity to be involved in the campus decision-making process. Throughout the academic year, students are appointed to committees and task forces that decide the direction of the University and student educational careers. Students interested in serving on a campus wide committee should contact the ASI Student Government Office, University Union, Room 202, 756-1291.

Academic Advising Council
The Academic Advising Council is responsible for, but not limited to: •Acting as an advisory group on issues, policies, and procedures related to advising across the campus, •Developing resources and workshops to promote better advising across campus; and •Coordinating and implementing the Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award.

Advisory Committee on Workplace Violence
-The Advisory Committee on Workplace Violence is responsible for implementing and coordinating the Workplace Violence Prevention Program.

Athletics Governing Board
The Athletics Governing Board serves as an advisory body to the President, who has ultimate responsibility and final authority for the conduct of the intercollegiate athletics program. The Board will function as an oversight committee for athletics establishing policy and setting direction for such issues as the addition or elimination of sports, academic standards, gender equality and financial integrity.

Cal Poly Plan Steering Committee
The Cal Poly Plan Steering Committee is the university oversight committee that oversees the allocation of the academic fees (Cal Poly Plan and College-Based fee revenues) students are paying.

The Campus Dinning Advisory Committee is to assist in evaluating the effectiveness of Campus Dining operations and to make recommendations on policy and major procedures for Campus Dining operations.

An ad hoc council whose members are appointed by the University President and charged with exploring issues and making policy recommendations on university citizenship at Cal Poly.

Intellectual Property Reveiw Committee
In the event of disagreement among interested parties concerning interpretation or application of the Intellectual Property Policy, the Committee serves as the appellate body, advisory to the University President.
