Explore the 165,000 square feet of recreational space that includes three seperate exercise areas filled with state of the art weight and cardio equipment, three fitness studios for group exercise classes, an indoor track, a lounge area and more. Over 200 students are staffed to operate the facility and support the variety of fitness and recreation programs that strive to promote lifelong healthy habits.

Exercise Areas
The Cal Poly Recreation Center consists of over 20,000 square feet of exercise space with a comprehensive mix of cardio and strength equipment to accommodate a wide-range of participants' needs. Each of the three specific exercise areas features inclusive environments that include free weights, circuit training machines, cardio equipment, and warm-up/cool-down areas.

Lower Exercise Room: 7500 sq. ft.

Indoor Track
The 3-lane indoor track is located on the second floor and loops around the Rec Gymnasium courts and exercise areas for warm-up/cool-down and circuit training. The track measures 1/8 of a mile per lap, and the inner lanes are for faster runners/joggers.
Direction of lanes switch on a daily basis:
Mon, Wed, Fri: Clockwise
Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun: Counter-Clockwise
Multi-Activity Center (MAC)
The MAC is available for badminton, dodgeball, fitness classes and special events. The MAC can be configured for three badminton courts or three dodgeball courts. The event format consists of a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system and can be configured with a stage, conference tables, or as a general large meeting auditorium. The event seating capacity in the MAC ranges between 600 and 800 people.
Multi-Activity Center Policies
Gymnasiums
The Recreation Center consists of multiple venues for a variety of court sport-specific activities.
Rec Gym: The primary informal/open gymnasium, located across from the main entrance, consists of two full-court basketball or three volleyball court configurations.
Main Gym: This large two-court gym, located on the west side of the first floor, consists of two full-court basketball courts or three volleyball courts. It can also be converted to a main spectator single court for basketball or volleyball. This is the primary gym for Intramural Sports and Kinesiology.
North Gym: Located on the north-west side of the second floor, this single court is configured for basketball or volleyball but can also be used for badminton, dodgeball, and futsal (soccer).
South Gym: Located on the south-west side of the second floor, this single court is configured for basketball or volleyball but can also be used for dodgeball, and futsal (soccer).
Studios
Three fitness/activity studios are located on the second floor adjacent to the upper exercise area:
- Studio #1: Dedicated cycling studio with a class capacity of 40 participants.
- Studio #2: Primary space for yoga, pilates, and ab workouts.
- Studio #3: Largest studio used for group exercise classes such as Body Pump and Zumba.

Racquetball Courts
Six glass-walled racquetball courts, with one having the capability to be converted to a squash court, are located on the first floor across from the Lower Exercise Area. Courts 1 through 5 can be converted to Wallyball. All racquetball court use requires a reservation through the Rec Center Pro Shop. Protective eyewear is strongly recommended. Sand Volleyball Courts
Three sand volleyball courts are located adjacent to the Leisure Pool. Availability of use is based on a dusk-to-dawn timeline and are first come, first served. Outdoor volleyballs can be checked-out from the Pro Shop.
Sports Complex

- Three fenced and lighted synthetic turf fields lined for NCAA soccer and flag football
- Five lighted outdoor basketball courts
- Bathroom facilities and drinking fountains
- Parking available (permit dispenser)
Lower Sports Complex
- Three skinned and lighted softball diamonds
- Four natural grass fields with capability for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and rugby configurations
In addition to the fields, the Cal Poly Sports Complex is also home to the Cal Poly NCAA Baseball and Softball teams.
