Duties:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics and Summer Programs Coordinator and Student Manager – Aquatics, this position is responsible for planning, implementation, instruction and supervision of the students in the pool area during summer swim instructional programs.
Requirements:
Interested candidates must attend one of following skills screening at the recreation center pool:
Friday, May 16 at 9:00am or Thrusday, May 22 at 6:30 pm or Friday May 30 at 9:00 am
Previous working knowledge of instructional techniques. Previous experience working with children. Current certification in First Aid and Infant/Child and Adult CPR required. Current and/or past certification as swim instructor required. Experience in swimming and swimming pool safety. Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. All ASI student staff must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Graduate students must carry 4 units/3.0 GPA. Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs. Extensive knowledge of classes being taught. Understanding of current trends in area of expertise. Previous experience in supervising and meeting participants in an instructional environment. Ability to learn new formats.
