Duties:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Aquatics and Summer Programs, the Student Manager for Aquatics is responsible for program supervision and supervision for all aspects of a comprehensive aquatics program including the authority to enforce all policies related to the Recreation Center Pool and Anderson Aquatics Center (Mott Pool) during Recreational Sports programming and special events.
Requirements:
Maintain current certification in Lifeguard Training. Certification in American Red Cross Water Safety Instruction or equivalent. LGI/CPR, First Aid instructor certifications preferred. CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent, and either Title 22 or EMT certification are required. Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. All ASI student staff must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Graduate students must carry 4 units/3.0 GPA. Ability to be highly organized and have good planning skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs. Experience working in a high volume fast-paced environment. Ability to be flexible and adapt to change. Ability to work cooperatively with others or independently, as the situation requires. Experience in administrative work including supervision, planning, advising and public relations. Knowledge of Windows based computer systems (Microsoft Office). Ability to take risks and explore new ideas. Position specific knowledge. Experience in assessment. Past supervisory experience/ability to supervise peers. Experience in budget management/accounting skills. Awareness of safety/risk-management procedures. Strong problem solving skills. Event planning experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Student Manager is directly responsible for the coordination of all Recreational Sports Aquatic Programs. Hire, train, orientate and supervise 15-20 student employees. Organize, schedule, and lead meetings. Ensure that facilities are clean and safe. Interact with operations staff to ensure facility upkeep is to standards.
