Equipment Rental
Who can rent at Poly Escapes?
All current Cal Poly students and Cal Poly faculty and staff may rent equipment. Non-Cal Poly individuals and groups may rent by special arrangement only. Call 756-1287 for more information.
Rental Items Prices List
Please Read Before Renting
Reservations & Renting
- Reservations are accepted only during the business week of the desired pick up date
- Reservations can be made up to two weeks in advance
- Equipment rented for Saturday-Sunday may be picked up on Friday and returned on Monday
Rental Charges
- Rental fees are based on daily, weekend and weekly rates
- Rental fees for any quarter break period are based on weekly rates
Discounts
- ASI employees receive 10% off rentals (Student discount card required)
- Group discounts are available by special arrangement
- Participants on a scheduled Poly Escapes trip receive 50% off equipment rentals for that trip
Refunds
- Refund requests MUST have cash register receipt attached
- Full refund if equipment reservation is cancelled a minimum of 48 hours (2 days) in advance of scheduled pick up date
- Full refund if equipment is issued in a non-operational condition and could not be used
- INSPECT THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE LEAVING POLY ESCAPES. The CUSTOMER accepts responsibility for the condition of the equipment after it leaves Poly Escapes
Damaged or Lost Equipment
- The CUSTOMER is responsible for any loss, theft or damage to Poly Escapes' equipment
- Damage fees and replacement costs will be equal to the retail value of the equipment
- Damage fees and replacement costs to equipment rented in pairs (e.g. climbing shoes, hiking poles, etc.) will be equal to the retail value of the pair
Late Fees
- Failure to return equipment by the date on the rental agreement will result in a late fee
- The late fee is equivalant to the number of days late multiplied by the daily rate
(4 days late x $5.00 daily rate = $20.00 late fee)
Failure to return equipment, pay for damaged equipment, or pay late fees will result in a hold being placed on your academic records until the problem is resolved.
