We’re less than two weeks away from ASI Student Government elections on April 26, and the nominees for ASI President and Board of Directors are in! Come meet the candidates at an open forum on Tuesday, April 18 at 11 a.m. in the San Luis Lounge in the University Union. Candidates will each have the opportunity to address the audience and share their campaign platforms.

The ASI President represents the student body and acts as the official ASI representative to the university and the general public. Your 2017–18 ASI Presidential candidates are:

  • Chase Dean
  • Archie Mitchell
  • Davis Negrete
  • Riley Nilsen

On Thursday, April 20, ASI Presidential candidates will participate in a debate at 11 a.m. in the UU Plaza. Candidates will be asked a mix of pre-written and audience submitted questions, including those submitted by students via the ASI Student Government Facebook page. Topics will range from why candidates are running for the position to common issues facing students today.

The ASI Board of Directors consists of 28 elected positions and serves as the official voice of Cal Poly students regarding student advocacy efforts and ASI corporate activity. There are 49 candidates running for the below open ASI Board of Directors positions:

  • College of Architecture and Environmental Design – 3 seats
  • College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences – 5 seats
  • College of Engineering – 5 seats
  • College of Liberal Arts – 5 seats
  • College of Science and Mathematics – 5 seats
  • Orfalea College of Business – 5 seats

View the full list of candidates on the ASI Elections website. The College of Architecture and Environmental Design and the College of Science and Mathematics both have less candidates running than there are open positions, meaning write-in candidates will play a large role in these elections! Learn more about write-in candidates under the resources tab on the ASI Elections website.

Follow the ASI Student Government Facebook and Cal Poly ASI Instagram and don’t forget to vote from Wednesday, April 26 at 9 a.m. through Thursday, April 27 at 9 a.m. on your Cal Poly portal!
